Happy things

I got this sewing machine from James for Christmas. I have absolutely no idea how to sew but really wanted to learn. Thankfully both my mom and MIL know how so hopefully I can learn some good tips from them. I am not really a crafty person but I have been wanting to dip my toes in a few different things and see if I can develop a hobby or skill that I can enjoy. Sewing seemed like the perfect thing since there is so much you can do once you know how to sew. I was thrilled when James took my hint that I wanted a sewing machine for Christmas. Now I just have to find a place for it and get it all set up then we'll see what I can do!

This is my new baby that we bought after Christmas. We have been living with once car and it has worked for the majority of the time. If I needed the car then I would drop James off at work and then pick him up in the evening. James has two offices that he works out of, one is 10 minutes from home and the other is 20-25 minutes from home but for the majority of time he is at the one that is 10 minutes from home so it wasn't too bad taking him to and from work. But then he started going much more frequently to the one that is farther away and that meant that I would not be able to take the car that day. We were planning on getting a second car eventually since our car is a two door sports car and I could just imagine the hassle it would be trying to put Blake in the backseat. Something I was definitely not looking forward to. We thought maybe we would hold out on getting a second car until Blake was here or even a few months after he arrived but since James needed the car pretty much every day for work, I was totally homebound and not happy about it. Sure, there were things I could do to keep myself busy around the house but its depressing to go 4 days straight without any contact from the outside world even if it means just to run to the bank or grocery store for 5 minutes. I missed my freedom. haha And since we are suburbanites now and its the American culture, we got our second car. :) Its a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder. Its perfect for a family and a dog. I love the flat trunk space in the back because it means Guinness can go back there and not get my car seats all dirty with his paws and fur. Its also GREAT for driving in snowy conditions which is awesome because we have gotten a lot of snow this year! I have my freedom back and now I am happy.

Wow, a sewing machine! I do not have much interest in learning how to sew, so I'll have you make things for me. :) Your new car is very cool! I can only imagine how frustrating it was to only have 1 car and be stranded at home for so long. I so wish we could get a newer car. I'm bored with mine, LOL. I hope we'll get a different one in the next couple of years. We'll see.
